Dogugaeshi (2004)

Basil Twist, a renowned innovator in contemporary puppetry, reinvigorated the rarefied and dying tradition of the Japanese ‘dogugaeshi stage mechanism’ for this show. This visual spectacle is created by a series of painted panels moving in remarkable patterns and combinations. The video is projected on and around, functioning as a character and an independent storytelling element layered on top of the stage action. Video for this piece was created in collaboration with Pablo Colapinto.
