Bertolt Brecht saw Flight of Lindbergh, inspired by Charles Lindbergh’s solo flight over the Atlantic, as a didactic drama for huge working-class choirs; Kurt Weill thought it was a radio cantata. Brecht and Weill created The Seven Deadly Sins as a “sung ballet” in 1933. It marked the end of Weill’s European career and the beginning of a two-decade hiatus in Brecht’s. We staged these rarely performed collaborations as a double bill.
